In the post-match press conference after the conclusion of the third Test match, Virat Kohli was subjected to a question on how the Indian batsmen should have approached the England bowlers.
A reporter stated that the England bowlers were bowling full and, on the pads, and when there was an opportunity to go on to the backfoot and play, the Indian willow wielders missed out on scoring a lot of runs. And to that, Kohli remarkably kept his cool, and simply replied ‘Okay Thanks’.
Although the England camp would be ecstatic following their comprehensive innings victory against India in the third Test, there might be a bit of tension as well with dark clouds looming over wicket-keeper Jos Buttler’s participation in the rest of the series. For the unversed, Buttler’s wife, Louise, is due to give birth to their second child soon. Buttler even admitted that he might miss the fifth and final Test.
However, his participation in the fourth Test at the Kennington oval is also not certain. After all, England skipper Joe Root, after the third Test, refused to give assurance about Buttler’s participation. Speaking on the matter, Root said that things will be clearer as the game approaches. However, he remained tight-lipped about the veteran wicket-keeper’s plans.
As if Team India’s humiliating loss at the third Test wasn’t enough, they have suffered another massive blow. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been taken to hospital due to a reported knee injury. On Day 2 of the contest, the 32-year-old sustained the injury while fielding. Team India has already lost opener Shubman Gill, pacer Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar to injuries on the tour.
