China and several other nations have called for a waiver of intellectual property rights for COVID-19 vaccines. China's Ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva Chen Xu said the virus has inflicted severe economic and social impacts on the world, especially in developing countries. He urged nations to put people's lives and health first instead of economic and political considerations.
