Floral Bath Salts! 5 DIFFERENT RECIPES! Scented, moisturizing, bubbling, fizzing, & foaming! Today I’m making floral bath salts & giving you 5 different recipes. All of the bath salt recipes are super easy, simple, quick, & are basically the same with 1-2 additional ingredients for each specific reaction. There are chapters so feel free to skip around.
I highly recommend using a base for scenting salts to keep them clump-free. I’m using Natrasorb for more information, click this video: https://youtu.be/gDYrkgNjb7o Natrasorb bath is a variety of tapioca starch that has unique 'pockets' that can carry oils in powder form. This will keep your bath salts dry, clump-free, & heavily scented! Depending on how much color is used, add 1-2 ml. of polysorbate 80 {light colors = 1 ml. * medium colors = 1.5 ml. * dark colors = 2 ml.} Add the scented base to a ½ c of Epsom salt. Then rub them between your hands to evenly coat the salt. QUICK TIP: Squeeze salt between hands. If it clumps, add 1-2 tbsp. salt, mixing after each addition. Repeat steps until it's clump-free. SCENTED: ½ c Epsom salts, 3 grams natrasorb, 3 grams fragrance, & 1 ml. of polysorbate 80. BUBBLING: ½ c Epsom salts, 3 gr. natrasorb, 3 gr. fragrance, 1.5 ml. of polysorbate 80, & 1 tbsp. sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSa). Mix SLSa in salts then add mica (makes SLSa blend in better.) ***If you add more than this, salts will look & feel more like powder (rather than salt). MOISTURIZING: ½ c Epsom salts, 3 gr. natrasorb, 3 gr. fragrance, 1 ml. of polysorbate 80, & 3 grams oil/melted butter (I used vitamin E oil). *** I had to add an additional ¼ C Epsom salt. The last 2 recipes require “soda-acid”. Sieve together ¼ C baking soda & ¼ C citric acid, then mix. FIZZING: ½ c Epsom salts, 3 gr. natrasorb, 3 gr. fragrance, 1 ml. of polysorbate 80. Prepare salts then add ¼ c “soda-acid” & mix. FOAMING: ½ c Epsom salts, 3 gr. natrasorb, 3 gr. fragrance, & 2 ml. of polysorbate 80. Add ¼ c “soda-acid” to a bowl & add 1 tsp. ammonium lauryl sulfate (coco betaine will work, just not as good). Mix well (it will puff up) & cure until completely dry (I just left mine out overnight). Once dry, sieve powder into salts. Mix them up, then add color. PACKAGING: Pour salt in & wiggle jar to fit the rest. Don’t pack it; let the salts remain free-flowing. Garnish the top with more flowers. Choose a color that compliments the salt or the accent color (normally the exact opposite color of the salt). TAGS: I grabbed some scrapbook paper (good quality, thick paper) & used a 1.5” round hole puncher. Make sure the tag color match the salt color. Then I wrote each salt type with a brush pen. Clear elastic cord looks neat & clean. RESULTS: Salt is not only relaxing, it’s also really great for skin. It’s a powerful detoxifier. It also promotes skin hydration, relieves irritating skin conditions, & reduces fatigue, stress, and pain. All of the salts smelled amazing & created a wonderful salt soak.
