Maros Sefcovic, of the EU Commission, is due to meet brexit minister David Frost this Friday with a possible view of explaining the action that the EU will take if the UK government trigger a trade war by suspending parts of the Northern Ireland Protocol unilaterally. The aim is to avoid the trade war which would inevitably follow on from Boris Johnson's action.
