Diploma Through Distance Mode is Not Equivalent to Diploma through Regular Mode: Supreme Court

In the instant case, the Staff Selection Commission of Haryana had invited applications for posts of arts and crafts teachers and the eligibility was having a diploma in crafts and arts.

Candidates who had received their diplomas through distance education mode were not eligible to apply.

Aggrieved, the party moved the High Court which ruled that the candidates were eligible to apply for the post on the basis of their diploma secured through distance mode from Kurukshetra University.
