Flores is an island in eastern Indonesia. Until 50,000 years ago, the island was home to a unique ecosystem with small hominins, pygmy elephants, giant storks, and vultures. What were these strange animals doing on this small and remote island, and why did they disappear? In this presentation, Dr. Hanneke Meijer, a bird palaeontologist from the University of Bergen in Norway, delves into her research from this unique ancient ecosystem.
