Weddings are, more often than not, a reason for a huge celebration. In India, we take weddings very seriously! Lengthy guest lists, themed decorations, loud bands and a sumptuous food spread- we have it all! But all that comes at a huge cost- A report suggests that 60% of Indian famillies spend more than their annual income on expenditures at a wedding! Which then brings us to our main question- Why do Indians spend so much on weddings? Those that are in favour of lavish weddings would say the reason is obvious- its a once in a lifetime event- we all need to celebrate our big day. But there are others who believe that it is a waste of money- that it is not okay to spend so much on just one celebration. In this video, we discuss the lavish Indian wedding celebrations, with a peek into the past. We even try and look into both the positive and the negative aspects of such spendings.
