കേരളതീരത്ത് ആദ്യമായി നീലത്തിമിംഗലത്തെ കണ്ടെത്തി. കൊച്ചിയില്‍ നിന്ന് 47 നോട്ടിക്കല്‍ മൈല്‍ ദൂരയാണ് നീലത്തിമിംഗലത്തെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. ആദ്യ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍ പകര്‍ത്തിയത് വിഴിഞ്ഞത്ത് നിന്നുള്ള കപ്പല്‍ തൊഴിലാളി ലോറന്‍സ് ക്രിസ്റ്റലടിമയാണ്.
