Footage filmed in Acapulco de Juarez on Wednesday revealed the aftermath of a strong earthquake that shook the southwest of Mexico earlier that same day.
In the popular holiday resort, cars could be seen hanging from cliffs and being crushed beneath rubble as tourists and residents attempted to make their way through the debris.
The quake struck the region with a 7.0 magnitude according to the United States Geological Survey with tremors reaching as far as the capital Mexico City, located 230 km away from Acapulco.
The natural disaster triggered landslides and destroyed buildings and power infrastructure, leaving around a 1.6 million people without electricity as estimated by the Federal Electricity Commission.
