The HORRIFIC Executions Of Children In England

One of the darkest parts of English and British History is the fact that many children were executed throughout the centuries for committing a number of crimes. Following the Tudor period, a time which we associate with much bloodshed, the barbarism and executions continued. At the time, the age of criminal responsibility was 7, this means that a 7 year old could have been executed as they were deemed to understand what they were doing was wrong. Because of this some incredibly young children were executed over the years, including boys and girls as young as 9. This is incredibly shocking, especially as these would be performed publicly in front of a huge crowd, which was likely to have been a huge event.

Many children were executed for a number of crimes. These varied in their severity. Some children were executed for murder, and arson but others were killed for committing theft on the streets. This today is a crime which is considered not as serious, but it shows us how brutal British and English History is, that children were being hanged in front of huge crowds, and some of these were not even 10 yet. Alice Glaston is a famous case, a girl who during Henry VIII's reign was sentenced to death at just the age of 11. There is also another case where a young girl of 13 was burned at the stake.
This was incredibly barbaric and wrong.
